The functionality of the object and the gesture are linked by its form. In the past, the function of the
object was generally simple. Through gestures and forms, the users were able to speculate the function of the
object. However, with the development of technology, people started looking for multifunctional objects yet
being able to operate with a simple gesture. The simplification of gestures and the complication of functions
have led to the collapse of the form, and the relationship between the three has gradually blurred. The
functionality is hidden behind the form of the object and a single gesture—behind the press of a button, it
may point to taking a photo, turning on the TV, or launching an intercontinental missile.
As the interface between reality and virtuality, the mouse has become an ideal form of objects─under a single
form, a simple click can achieve unlimited functions. Yet when all the functions can be operated with the same
gesture, can people still be aware of the differences of functions triggered by clicking? By changing the form
of the mouse under different circumstances, we aim to transform the user's gestures, in order to recall the
complex connection between gestures and functionality.
